the most important relationship you have is the one you have with yourself

Kayla Copeland, APCC, M.A.

Holistic Psychotherapist | Gestalt, IFS, & Somatic Therapy

Many of the people I work with are high-achieving, capable, and deeply thoughtful — yet privately carry a persistent sense that they are never quite enough. Despite external success, they often feel driven by pressure rather than choice, caught in cycles of over-functioning, self-criticism, or emotional disconnection.

In our work together, we slow down enough to listen beneath the striving.

I specialize in supporting high achievers, professionals, creatives, and helpers who want to understand — and transform — the unconscious beliefs and relational patterns that fuel overwork, burnout, anxiety, or difficulty resting into themselves and their relationships. This is therapy for people who are not looking for quick fixes, but for deep, sustainable change.

My approach is grounded in Gestalt Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic, mindfulness-based practices. Rather than analyzing your life from a distance, we work in the here and now — noticing how old adaptations show up in your body, emotions, and relationships in real time. Together, we gently explore the parts of you that learned to achieve, please, or push through in order to belong or feel safe.

Over time, this work supports:

  • A more embodied sense of self-worth that is not dependent on performance

  • Greater emotional freedom and relational capacity

  • Increased choice, agency, and presence in your life

  • The ability to succeed without self-abandonment

I see therapy as a collaborative, relational process — one that honors both your resilience and the younger parts of you that learned to work so hard to survive. My role is not to “fix” you, but to offer a grounded, attuned presence where new ways of being can emerge.

I offer private-pay therapy for clients seeking a high-touch, depth-oriented therapeutic experience. I also reserve a limited number of Medi-Cal CCAH and sliding-scale spots in support of accessibility and community care.
